Juan Carlos Espinosa Jiménez

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

After completing his primary in Panama and his secondary studies in Shenandoah Academy in New Market, Virginia, USA, as well as his Bachelor of Law and Political Science at the Latin American University of Science and Technology of Panama in 2002, he moved to the United States of America where he completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Business Transactions at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, in 2004.

Mr. Espinosa also completed an Executive Program in Technical Barriers to Trade at the Foundation for International Development and Cooperation in Taipei, China.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

His professional career began as a paralegal in Panama City, Panama and then as an assistant attorney in Chicago at NADLER, PRITIKIN & MIRABELLI, LLC. Upon receiving his license to practice law in 2002, Espinosa became an associate attorney at ALVES & CO. ABOGADOS / ATTORNEYS AT LAW, now LAWEALTH BOGADOS (PARTNER), until he was called to public service in 2010 as Panama's Alternate Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he remained until 2011. After a brief period back in the private sector, uring which he became a Partner of the firm LAWEALTH ABOGADOS / ATTORNEYS, he returned to the public sector, this time as Director General of Foreign Policy, with the rank of Ambassador, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

He served as such, and several times as Deputy Chancellor in Charge, until he resigned in March 2013 to rejoin the law firm and serve as Director of the consulting firm ALVES & Co. CONSULTORIA, S.A., today LAWEALTH ADVISORS

Additionally, he is a member of the National Bar Association of Panama, Member of the International Union of Lawyers, Member of the International Bar Association of Panama.

He serves until the end of 2024 as Legal Director of Marine Protection Alliance (MPA), a North American organization focused on marine conservation and the fight against illegal fishing.

VENTURE DEVELOPMENT Mr. Espinosa manages and develops in different farms in the interior of the country, livestock and agriculture development, and energy distribution through solar power plants in conjunction with its strategic partners.

LANGUAGES: Mr. Espinosa is fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of Portuguese.
